Mercedes GLC is named the sequel to the previous SUV model GLK. It was launched in 2015 as a 2016 model year and is a competitor to, among others, the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 as well as most other car models in lower price ranges. The German premium brands launched several crossover models in the 2010s as the trend grew ever stronger, due in part to the earlier popularity of SUVs becoming less in line with rising fuel prices. The previous model, GLK, was characterized by an angular design while GLC got a more streamlined, rounder design that appealed more - GLC lifted Mercedes sales figures well in the class. GLC is also larger than its predecessor with eleven centimeters longer wheelbase, which provides better space for mainly rear seat passengers but also some extra load capacity. It is a car that can be configured very differently and therefore the price levels also vary greatly. In the usual German way, the basic version is real basic, while the larger equipment packages offer many more functions and comfort and the model is also available in the fully equipped AMG version. The most common engine choices in the Swedish market are 2-liter engines, either diesel- or petrol-powered and both with turbocharging. Unlike the predecessor, the GLC class is known as a "hatchback" - briefly explained a smaller combination, and as a coupe with two doors, the latter of which is far more unusual in the Swedish second-hand market.
