The Audi R8 is one of the VAG Group's (Volkswagen Group) absolute top cars in the fleet. It is a super sports car with a mid-mounted engine and the popular, permanent front wheel drive called Quattro in Audi language. The model was launched in 2006 following the Audi Le Mans concept, which was presented a few years before. It is not always a concept similar to the actual production car, but in the case of the Audi R8, the similarities are greater than the differences purely in design. Like many other award-winning car designs of all time, an Italian designer stood at the drawing board - Walter De Silva. The R8 quickly became a success and was praised for road keeping and detail quality, much like its "sibling" Lamborghini Gallardo (and later Hurracan) with which the car shares a platform and many components, including the V10 engine serving the R8. The car is also available with a 4.2 liter V8 engine, coupled to a standard 6-speed manual box, which is much more common in all markets (and naturally has lower operating costs). On the road, the car behaves smoothly but the outer dimensions are not as small as at first glance can think with a length of just over 4.3 meters. The first generation of the Adui R8 lasted for almost ten years - from the 2006 model year to 2015. The second generation, from 2016, onwards is a brand new car but the basic concept remains - sports to one hundred percent. It was presented a year after the more expensive Lamborghini Hurracan and received a more expensive price tag than its predecessor (inflation included) because the V8 engine was now demolished in favor of only one engine choice - a V10 with either 540 or 610 horsepower.
