This is how our travel habits change after corona

1 september, 2021

We cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that the car needs to be used sustainably. In the fall of 2020, Kvdbil conducted a SIFO survey regarding Swedes' changing travel habits. The result then showed that many thought they would travel more by car and bicycle after the pandemic.

When we asked the question again in September 2021, it is clear that more people can imagine traveling by bus, train and plane than last autumn, but also that the thoughts that people will use the car more after the pandemic persist.

In August, WSP published its major mobility study which, among other things, shows that the pandemic caused a halving of the number of public transport travelers and that only half plan to return to public transport after the pandemic. Of those who have stopped taking public transport, a quarter plan to use a car even after the pandemic.

It is clear that the car has an important role for many even after the pandemic and we need to work to ensure that the car is used in a sustainable way. Older car models need to be phased out in favor of new ones and we need to speed up electrification by ensuring that electric cars and plug-in hybrids reach the Swedish second-hand market and expanding the charging infrastructure.
