An electric car is powered by one or more electric motors through a battery, which is charged through the mains. The cars do not have a combustion engine, which means that they do not actually need an exhaust pipe and therefore do not produce any local emissions. Hybrid cars are instead powered by a combination of combustion engine and electric motor. Buy a used electric car
